Text Box: ART I  Art I serves as an introduction to Art history and production.  Class work is centered on developing natural talent through drawing still life, portraits, landscapes, and abstracts. There is an emphasis on creativity and composition using the elements and principles of design.   Prerequisite:  Application and portfolio of 5 works Fee: $15                                                              Credit:  1 Grades: 10, 11, 12                                       Semesters: 2 ART II  This course emphasizes the development of creative and intellectual development through visual arts learning.  The class will center around seeing art as the embodiment of an ideal or the reflection of social values.  Students will compare and contrast art in terms of history, aesthetics, and culture. Prerequisite:  Portfolio of work consisting of five pieces of art.  Size of work must be at least "11 X 14."  Must have passed Art I with at least a B. Fee:  $15                                                             Credit:  1 Grades:  Applicable                                   Semesters:  2   CHORAL MUSIC  Choral music is designed to enhance students' vocal music skills. The primary purpose is to develop fundamentals of musical technique and learn music theory. Choral students will also prepare for performances during the year. Text Box: INTRODUCTION TO THEATRE ARTS  Class serves as an introduction to the dramatic arts. Students begin with an overview of the history of theatre. Other units cover the structure and styles of drama, evaluation of drama, and fundamentals of play production and acting. Students will be required to see and participate in a variety of dramatic experiences including a monologue and presentations to develop an appreciation for this art form. Prerequisite: None                                            Credit: 1 Grades: 10 -  12                                          Semesters:  2   ACTING II  This course is a second-year acting program intended for the serious drama student. Students will work on an array of drama projects over the course of the year. Acting will, of course, be a necessary part of this class. Every nine weeks students will read at least five plays and act/memorize two five-minute monologues as part of his or her grade. Students will self-direct short plays as well as take part in the fall and spring productions. Prerequisite: Completion of Intro. to Theatre class, audition/interview, references from two prior teachers. Credit: 1                                                       Semesters:  2 Grades: 11, 12                                                                        BAND The IAHS band is comprised of students in grades 9-12. The Marching Band performs in the fall at football games and marching festivals. In the spring, the band works on concert music. Students in band experience the enjoyment of music and develop musical skills that will last a lifetime.
