Marketing is a course designed to prepare students for careers in sales, marketing and management fields. Students are given the opportunity to study specific areas of marketing such as economics, personal selling, advertising, business math, distribution, and sales promotion. Other areas include units related to human relationship skills, communications, fashion merchandising, and product service planning. Class time consists of lecture, individual and group projects, design and construction of display cases, and many other projects relating to merchandising. Students may be required to furnish some art supplies for the class. You must fill out an application with the instructor by the deadline.

MARKETING II
 
Marketing II is a class offered to students who successfully complete Marketing I. Students in Marketing II will study management and entrepreneurial skills necessary to open a business. Students are required to complete many projects including small business promotions and personal financial plans. Class time will consist of lecture and an application.   Acceptance into Marketing II will be 
based on performance and ability observed in Marketing I.

CO-OP I
 
Cooperative Education is a unique arrangement between IAHS, business and industry, and the community for the purpose of training tomorrow’s workforce. The goal is to help prepare juniors and seniors for employment in areas for which they have been occupationally trained. Students work a minimum   of   15   hours    per    week    and  complete

 
Text Box: coursework during the  scheduled class period.   The 
curriculum includes the workplace skills of critical thinking, mathematics, human/interpersonal relations, communication, and technology.  Students are placed in jobs that relate to their vocational training or occupational goal. Juniors who enroll in Co-op I must be committed to taking Co-Op II the next year. Entry requirements include being 16 years old by August 1, completion of a written application, and an interview with the instructor. ** Seniors who choose to enroll in this course must have 2 years of Marketing OR 2 years at Vo- Tech or must be enrolled in your second year. Co-op Rules include:

*Students may only work for a business that holds a
   legitimate tax ID number
*Students only have one week after school starts to
   find / secure a job
*Students must notify the instructor if they change
   jobs or they will receive a "0" for the 9 weeks
*Students who are fired will receive a "O" for the 9
   weeks and will be placed in another class
*Students who lose their job due to economic
   reasons have 3 weeks to find another job.  If, at the
  end of the 3 weeks another job is not secured, the
  student will receive an 85 for their job grade and will
   be placed in another class. 
*Students who quit a job for no legitimate reason will
   receive a 65 for their job grade
*Students must sign that they understand all rules
  applying to the co-op program

CO-OP II
 
Co-Op II is a continuation of Co-Op I with more emphasis on business theory and applications. Other study includes an expansion of topics introduced in Co-Op I.
