If you have made a difference by volunteering in your community over the past year, you could win $1,000 and a trip to Washington, D.C. by applying for a Prudential Spirit of Community Award. To apply:

The Scholarship Committee will determine two local honorees to submit for state-level judging.

The Wendy's High School Heisman Award is available online to any eligible high school senior athlete. Eligible seniors are those who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, on the field, adn within their communities. Minimum GPA to apply is 3.0. The scholarship administrators will select one male and one female applicant as School Winners, and state finalists will be named in November. The deadline to apply is October 1, no later than 5:00 p.m. Website: www.wendysheisman.com
The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue college education, and a desire to contribute to society. Eligibility criteria include:
*Intention to pursue a bachelor's degree. Candidates may begin at the community college level.
*Adjusted gross family income of $50,000 or less.
*Involvement in extra-curricular and community service
*Minimum GPA of 2.0
Online applications must be submitted at www.horatiolger.org/scholarships. One letter of recommendation required, appropriate signatures must be obtained, a transcript must be mailed, along with parent's last recent tax returns.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has opened its website for applications. The qualified applicant would be a high academic achiever who is an accomplished leader with many hours dedicated to others in community service. Deadline to apply is October 31 at www.coca-colascholars.org Click on Coca-Cola Four Year Award for Seniors. 250 awards are presented annually with 50 scholarships for $20,000 and 200 for $10,000.
