Danny Oswalt


Danny Oswalt is a 1979 graduate of IAHS.  After high school, he continued his education earning an A.A. from Itawamba Community College in 1981, a B.S. in Secondary English Education from Mississippi State University in 1982, and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction (English) from the University of Mississippi in 2010.  While completing his Master’s, Oswalt was selected a Fellow in the University’s Writing Project, an intensive collaborative workshop focused on teaching writing across the curriculum to learners of all ages and abilities. In 1983, he was hired at IAHS to teach English.  Since then, he has taught English II, English III, English IV, Drama, and Oral Communications.  Currently, he teaches English IV, Oral Communication, and dual-credit English Composition I and English Composition II.  Since 2010, he has served as an adjunct faculty member for Itawamba Community College teaching English Composition I and English Composition II in the traditional setting and through their eLearning division. He is married to the former Cheryl Graham. Their family includes two children, Anna Catherine Daher (and her husband Jamal Daher) and Jon Ryan Oswalt (and his wife Dr. Katie Oswalt).  He has four grandchildren, Scarlett Daher, Ruby Daher, Finn Oswalt and Rosalia Oswalt.
