
Biography
Mr. Oliver Westmoreland has been involved in public education for thirteen years; of which, his first two years were as a substitute teacher for the Itawamba County School District. Mr. Westmoreland is a eleven year veteran highly-qualified educator, with all his time being at Itawamba Agricultural High School in different teaching roles. He first started as a Special Education teacher, later transferring to his current position as a general education teacher, where he has taught social studies and science related courses.
Mr. Westmoreland is a 2003 graduate of Itawamba Agricultural High School. After high school, he immediately proceeded to earn his Associate of Arts degree at Itawamba Community College and continued his post-secondary education by earning his Bachelor of Arts in Education, Masters of Arts in Education: Curriculum and Instruction, both with emphasis in Social Studies Education, and most recently a Specialists in Educational Leadership, all from the University of Mississippi. Mr. Westmoreland is currently working on his doctorate in educational leadership from Liberty University.
Mr. Westmoreland is certified to teach social studies, general science, and life science courses in grades seven through twelve, health and special education (mild/moderate disabilities) in kindergarten through twelfth grades, and is certified as a non-practicing administrator. Chosen as "Teacher of the Month" for October 2024, he serves on the IAHS School Improvement Committee and the IAHS Beautification Committee. Within the community, Mr. Westmoreland is the acting secretary for the Itawamba Agricultural High School Foundation for Excellence, a member of the IAHS PTO, and a member of the Itawamba Historical Society.
